Seminar: Proposed Changes to Environmental Regulations

Gary Kennedy, a Fellow of the AIFST, will be presenting on the current rules on recycling and sustainability of packaging and how those are going to change. Gary will discuss the current rules associated with recycling and sustainability of packaging, how those rules are going to change, primarily in the kitchen but with broader scope across the whole of organisations and broader environmental changes proposed include the banning of some environmentally damaging chemicals some additional types of single use packaging.

As climate change continues to affect our lives, the Federal, State and Territory governments are implementing or proposing to implement a series of environmental changes that will affect all of our workplaces.

Significant changes are proposed to what goes into the red, yellow and green bins at our facilities may be legalised by the end of 2025.

What is returnable for 10c deposit is also changing.

Some of the products we buy in will change their packaging and some items may become unavailable.

Broader environmental changes proposed include the banning of some environmentally damaging chemicals, standardising recycling symbols, banning more types of single use packaging and other new regulations.
