Join the AIFST Qld Branch - the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (QDAF) are opening their doors and inviting AIFST members to a ‘behind the scenes’ peak into their facilities and activities.

Join us for afternoon tea and networking at the Health and Food Science Precinct based at 39 Kessels Rd, Coopers Plains. Over the course of the event, you will hear the latest industry insights from Dr Val Natanelov, the Queensland Innovation Manager for the Fight Food Waste CRC, before being lead through the jewel in the crown – the Food Zone.

The Food Zone is a Safe Food Queensland and DAF-accredited food research and processing plant with over 120 individual food processing units. These include:

  • Five flexible layout processing areas within the pilot plant with plug and play equipment
  • Custom-designed product development laboratory
  • Sensory and consumer testing facility, including 10 individual sensory evaluation booths
  • BrewLab micro-brewery

QDAF specialised staff, including Paul Burt (Pilot Plant), Kerridyn Hooker (Product Development), Simone Moller (Consumer Intelligence) and Andrew Forrest (BrewLab), will showcase their respective work areas and provide a glimpse of the cutting-edge research being conducted to support the Queensland food industry.
